| JEAN COCTEAU
JEAN COCTEAU ((1889-1963) Friends with leading artists of the time such as Modigliani and Picasso, Cocteau was a painter, writer, film director, designer and draughtsman. His favourite themes included the figures of Harlequin, (comparable to Picasso's paintings of Harlequin) embodying theatre, and Orpheus, the personification of the poet. He is perhaps best known for his film, where he was occupied with discovering the inspiration behind the work of his artist friends. |
