| JOHN CONSTABLE
JOHN CONSTABLE (1776-1837) English painter, who is ranked, as one of the greatest British landscape artists with JMW Turner. The Hay Wain (1821) is probably the most famous painting of his paintings, copies of which hang in many a British pub. Constable never went abroad, and divided his time between Hampstead and Suffolk in particular. It is only appropriate that the Victoria & Albert Museum in London has the finest collection of his work, including a full-sized preliminary sketch for The Hay Wain and that the original hangs in the National Gallery, London |
