| RAOUL DUFY (1877-1953) The French painter, graphic artist and textile designer who converted from the Impressionist style to Fauvism in 1905 under the influence of Matisse. His style is extremely personal, and is easily recognisable from the fluid brushstrokes and bright, fresh colours. Dufy became interested in fashion on meeting the couturier Paul Poiret in 1910, and had a considerable influence on the world of fashion at this time. He is a Japanese art collectors favourite. |
